I absolutely adore Theatre. I was actually a shy person growing up and terrified of public speaking. But entering my freshmen year in college, I wanted to try new things, even if it terrified me. 2005 was the year of getting out of my shell and really being brave and being bold in my life. Taking many electives in science, communications and then there was Theatre 101. Thats where I caught the bug.
There was something about this class that kept me excited and interested in exploring much more deeper in what I was feeling inside. As time progressed, I started to love my Theatre 101 class more and more. It was challenging but something about the lessons that we were learning made feel how it all connected to everyday life. That I can apply this learning. Then I was truly passionate about theatre day in and day out, appearing on stage working with materials such as Shakespeare, Clowning, Commedia Dell’Arte, showcases throughout college. I wanted to pursue nothing but theatre in college. Even though going into the program I knew how hard it was to find a job or gig in this type of business but I pursued it anyways with a philosophy I still live with today from my University 100 professor, she said… “Do what you love, the money will come.” And I have been and the money has been coming just like she said.
